Regardless of the platform(s) you choose, there are some basic guidelines to follow. First, develop a comprehensive strategy. This should include not only posting on a regular basis, but also engaging with your users. In the grand scheme of things, engagement means more than the total number of followers or likes. Secondly, make sure that you have a website with a blog. Part of an effective social media strategy is periodically posting links back to your website or blog, in order to drive traffic to your business. The first thing that you need to do with Facebook is to set up a page for your business. This is separate from your personal page, and allows you to engage with potential and current clients. Once the page is set up, add your basic business information such as location, hours, description, etc. Add a profile and a cover photo, and start posting! Post ideas can include:
Industry-related content from external sites. Do you have blogs or Facebook pages that you follow? Some of our favorites are HubSpot, Moz, and Social Media Examiner, to name a few. If you come across a piece of content that you feel would be relevant to your audience, share it to your page!
Links back to your website. Is there a particular product or service you want to feature? Post a link to the description on your website. This will help to increase awareness of your brand and your offerings.
Photos. These can include behind-the-scenes pictures, as well as images of people using your product or service. Engagement can also be increased by running photo contests where your fans can post their own photos and vote on others’ submissions for the chance to win a prize.
